White-Throated Tinamou
The White-Throated Tinamou is aTinamou species native to the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, northern Bolivia, south-eastern Colombia, north-easter Ecuador, eastern Peru and southern Venzuela.
The White-Throated tinamou has chestnut-brown upperparts, with small yellowish-white spots and blackish streaking on the lower back. It has also dark barring on flanks, grey head and neck, a brown bill, and a white throat, hence comes the name.
White-Throated tinamous usually nest on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females. Then he raises the hatchlings until they are ready to be on their own, usually for 2 – 3 weeks.
