White-Faced Black Spanish Chicken
The White-Faced Black Spanish, or as commonly named ‘the Spanish’, is a breed of Chickens that originated in Spain. It’s distinctive white face is easily recognized and is also highly-prized as a showy trait in poultry shows around the world.
White-Faced Black Spanish chickens have single combs, and chalk white, over-developed and low hanging earlobes. Their plumage is entirely black with a beautiful glossy sheen, and they have slate-blue legs. The Spanish is very slow to mature, with the distinctive white face becoming more apparent after the first year of the bird.
White-Faced Black Spanish hens re good layers of very large chalk white eggs, but they are usually non-setters. They lay around 180+ eggs per year with a weight of about 80 g per each. A bantam version is also available for this fabulous and distinctive chicken breed.
