Thai Game Chicken
The Thai Game is an old Chicken breed, that originated in Thailand. It’s a Malayoid-type chicken, similar to the Shamo, but with a lighter build and a higher positioned tail. Thai Games ware initially developed for cockfighting purposes, but they can be used as utility birds as well.
The Thai Game is a skilled bird, which is known for its quickness and fighting intellect. Till the moment, the bird is still being used in cockfighting sports in Thailand, as it hasn’t been officially outlawed there. In fact, there are many clubs and associations in Thailand for promoting Thai Games. Some of them deal with the fighting aspects of the bird, while others are for preservation and exhibition purposes.
Thai Game hens lay around 100 tinted eggs per year, and do go broody. They aren’t the best brooders due to their muscular bodies, but they make great and protective mothers. Thai Games have pea or walnut combs, small or absent wattles, red earlobes, and mostly yellowish legs. The bird appears in a wide range of color-verities, with the black-breasted red, black, and duckwing, being the most common. Although numbers of Thai Games are limited, the bird’s popularity increases and it became globally well-known in different poultry clubs.
