Sex-Link Chickens

Sex-links are planned crosses, which are hardier and more productive than their parents’ respective breeds. They are Chickens which can be sexed at hatching, usually by color and sometimes by feather development.

Sex-link chickens aren’t a specific breed, as they do not produce offspring that look and produce as they themselves do. In other words, the parents’ pure breeds are needed to maintain your sex-link flock.

As Six-links are hybrids of laying or dual-purpose breeds, that were infused in the initial crossbreeding, the resulted offspring can be extremely functional birds indeed. They can be extremely good egg layers, which often produce 300 eggs per year or even more.

Sex-links can be divided to Black Sex-Links and Red Sex-Links. More specific variety names are common as well.
