Rumpless Game Chicken
The Rumpless Game is a British breed of tail-less Chickens. In 1958, some tailless birds of Iranian origins were crossed with other breeds to produce an approximation of the British type, and the name “Manx Rumpy” got applied to them. Rumpless Games; origins are disputed, but sometimes it’s being considered as the tailless variety of the Old English Game.
The Rumpless Game is one of just a few true tailless breeds such as; the Araucana and the Belgian D’Everberg. Tailless breeds are those chickens that lack the caudal vertebrae, from where the tail feathers grow. Rumpless Game hens are good layers of light brown eggs (around 150+ per year) and go broody too. They may also lay white, blue, or green eggs (probably down to some Araucana blood at some point).
Rumpless Games are excellent for free-range rearing, and take care of most of their own food needs. Generally, they can be used as good dual-purpose chickens in addition to being used as showy birds too. Rumpless Games come in several color-varieties that include; brown, red, buff, silver-duckwing, and golden-duckwing. They have large single combs and wattles, and may have beards and muffs too. A bantam version is also available for the Rumpless Game.
