Easter Egger Chicken

The Easter Egger is any Chicken that possesses the “blue egg” gene, but doesn’t fully meet any breed defined standard. In fact, the name was derived from the resemblance of their colorful eggs to Easter eggs. The Araucana, the Ameraucana, and the Easter Egger are thought to have descended from the same founder stock, that originated in Chile and the Falklands.

Easter Eggers are a mix of different breeds with one parent carrying a blue egg-laying gene. They are the most popular chickens in America today, and can lay a rainbow of egg colors.

Easter Eggers have pea combs, and wattles that are either small or absent. They usually have beards with muffs and their legs are of a greenish color. Easter Eggers can also be found in an infinite array of plumage colors, which makes them beautiful and unique hybrid of chickens. A bantam version is also available for this breed.
