Australian Game Chicken

The Australian Game is a Chicken breed that was developed in Australia at an unknown date, possibly by the late of the 19th century. This breed of chicken is thought to have been developed from a mix of different game chicken breeds, such as; the Australian Pit Game, the Malay, the Old English Game, the Modern Game and the Asil. The Australian Game is also known as; the Colonial Game, the Aussie Game, or just the Aussie.

The Australian Game is a tall and heavy bird that’s raised exclusively for exhibition in the mean time. However the bird was developed initially for cockfighting and meat production. The Australian Game has a strong cone-shaped body, with no hint of flatness in the wings. And unlike the Malay Game, it should have a flat back.

The Australian Game has a close-fitting plumage with exceptionally hard feathers. It has a pea comb, small wattles and red earlobes. The Australian Game chicken breed appears almost in every color-variety, and a bantam version is available too.
