German Langshan Chicken
The German Langshan is a tall Chicken breed with a neat rising tail and back line. It was developed in Germany from imported Croad Langshans of China, from which it had its characteristic U-shaped back. The German Langshan has also Minorcas and Plymouth Rocks bloodlines, and those of white Orpingtons were added too to develop its white variety.
German Langshans are large birds that often raised for exhibition, despite having practical applications as a layer and meat bird. They are strong, vital chickens that grow up fast too. German Langshan hens lay plenty of cream-colored eggs (150 – 200 eggs per year of weight 56 g or more per each).
The German Langshan is most often found in: black, blue, white and brown-black; others are known, but are rather rare. The bird has medium-sized single comb and wattles, red earlobes, and very long slate-blue legs. German Langshans are active and hardy birds, that have a bantam form as well.
